The Osteonecrosis of Knee Associated with Avascular Necrosis of Femoral head

Abstract
Spontaneout osteonecrosis of the knee was first described by Ahlb?k et al., and is still of unknown etiology and known etiology were steroid induced and trauma. Radilologically, similar feature in femoral head avascular necrosis was shown, and
there is
a subchondral radiolucent area usually surrouned by a sclerotic halo in the weight bearing portion of the medial femoral condyle; further, there is a high focal uptake by radionuclide scintimetry. There is intense pain. The initially described
cases
were in the medial femoral condyle, but lesions in the lateral femoral condyle and in the medial tibial plateau were reported.
Prognosis of the disease depends on the size of the lesion. The end stage is progressive arthrosis, so preventive therapy was necessary in early stage.
The osteonecrosises of knee associated with avascular necrosis of femoral head were very rare and report cases were also very rare.
In this study, the lesion of osteonecrosis were involved multifocal and were more diffuse than those of spontaneous osteonecrosis.
The aim of this study was to report the 7 knees in 4 patients with the osteonecrosises of the knee associated with avascular necrosis of femoral head.
